Welcome to our news category. In a recent development, a Sharia Court in Kano State has ordered the remand of a 25-year-old man named Aliyu Sa’ad, who admitted to calling his friend gay. The presiding Judge, Malam Umar Lawal-Abubakar, made this decision after Sa’ad pleaded guilty.
The court has adjourned the case until July 3 for a summary trial. Providing details, the Prosecution Counsel, Inspector Abdullahi Wada, informed the court that the incident occurred on Monday around 8 p.m. According to Wada, the defendant verbally abused the complainant, Malam Ahmed Khamis-Ahmed, with offensive language following a disagreement.
It is important to note that the defendant’s actions are said to be in violation of Section 188 of the Sharia law of Kano State. This particular section addresses offenses of this nature.
